Jarno Widar wins Stage 3 of the Giro Next Gen 2024

Jarno Widar (Lotto Dstny Development Team) has won Stage 3 of the Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale, the 134km long Verrès-Pian della Mussa (Balme – Ala di Stura). xx (xx) and Mathys Rondel (Tudor Pro Cycling Team U23) finished second and third respectively.

Jarno Widar (Lotto Dstny Development Team) is the new Maglia Rosa.

Speaking seconds after the finish, the stage winner and new Maglia Rosa Jarno Widar said: “It’s unbelievable. This is the Giro Next Gen, one of the biggest races in the world for our category. To win a stage here and go for GC is fantastic. I saw the boys from Visma weren’t very good. So I attacked and only Wouter [Toussaint] and [Mathys] Rondel could follow me. They didn’t want to work so 1km before the line, I decided to attack. I also wanted to take seconds before the next hard stages”.
