The Maglia Rosa Jarno Widar (Lotto Dstny Development Team) has won Stage 6 of the Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale, the 172km long Borgo Virgilio-Fosse (Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo). Pablo Torres (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z) and Pau Marti (Israel Premier Tech Academy) finished second and third respectively.
Speaking seconds after the finish, the stage winner and Maglia Rosa Jarno Widar said: “This morning I was very confident to win the queen stage but in the race I was feeling very bad. Luckily I was feeling better and better towards the last climb. I just needed to follow. It was very hard to follow Mathys Rondel but I had something left in my legs. When Pablo Torres attacked I had to go as well. With 250 metres, I went. People who say I have problems in the downhills don’t know about my knee problems. They should shut up. Today’s win is my answer”.
