Paul Magnier wins Stage 4 of the Giro Next Gen

12/06/2024

Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team) has won Stage 4 of the Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale, the 139km long Pertusio-Borgomanero. Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek Future Racing) and Andrea D’Amato (Biesse – Carrera) finished second and third respectively.

Jarno Widar (Lotto Dstny Development Team) retains the Maglia Rosa.

Speaking seconds after the finish, the stage winner Paul Magnier said: “The most important was to make it a bunch sprint. We controlled the whole day. At the end it was difficult to bring the Lidl-Trek rider [Niklas Behrens] back but we managed to do it. Then it was very nervous because it wasn’t a hard stage and everyone was full of energy. But with 1km to go we were still four riders for the lead out. We did very well as a team. It’s very nice. With the headwind it was important to wait for the last moment. I also did the intermediate sprint to extend my advantage in the points classification so tomorrow if it’s another bunch sprint, we might give way to my team-mate Andrea Raccagni Noviero because he’s very good but he doesn’t have a pro contract for next year yet”.
