Steffen De Schuyteneer (Lotto Dstny Development Team) has won Stage 4 of the Giro Next Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale, the 138km long Bergamo (Kilometro Rosso)-Cremona. Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl – Trek Future Racing) and Lorenzo Conforti (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè) finished second and third respectively.
Jarno Widar (Lotto Dstny Development Team) retains the Maglia Rosa.
Speaking seconds after the finish, the stage winner Steffen De Schuyteneer said: “The plan was for me to sprint today after I was a lead out man yesterday. I’m very happy. I was a bit sick at the beginning of the Giro Next Gen. But I felt good today and my team-mates did a super job. It’s crazy. You don’t have to be scared to win a sprint. It’s very special to win here at my first Giro NextGen. I come from Grammont/Geraardsbergen and I see my future in the Classics as well as in the bunch sprints”.
